Meowdoku: the free daily cat logic puzzle
Meowdoku is a cosy logic puzzle, a cat-themed cousin of Queens and Star Battle. Seat one cat in every row, every column and every coloured region so that no two cats ever touch, not even at a corner. Every board has exactly one solution, and you can always reach it by logic, without guessing.
Play the free daily puzzle, the same 7×7 board for everyone, or switch to Unlimited for endless boards in three sizes. It works on your phone, tablet or computer and needs no sign-up.
How to play
Meowdoku is a cosy logic puzzle. Seat one cat in every row, every column and every coloured region, and make sure no two cats ever touch.
The rules
One cat per row and column
Every row and every column holds exactly one cat. Once a row has its cat, every other cell in that row stays empty.
One cat per colour
The board is split into coloured regions. Each region also gets exactly one cat, whatever its size or shape.
Cats never touch
Cats like their space. No two may sit side by side or corner to corner, so a cat blocks all eight cells around it.
One answer
Every board has a single solution you can reach by logic alone. Cats that clash turn red straight away, but a cat in the wrong spot that breaks no rule yet is not marked, so check your reasoning before you move on. The board lights up when it is solved.
Solving tips
Start with small colours
A region of one or two cells has almost nowhere to put its cat. It is often forced from the first move.
Cross out first
Marking cells that cannot hold a cat is most of the work. The cats appear on their own.
Block the neighbours
After every cat, cross out the eight cells around it. New forced moves usually follow.
Colours in one row
If a region sits entirely inside one row, that row's cat is in the region. Cross out the rest of the row.
Mark before you place
Use ✕ freely on cells you have ruled out. Only place a cat when you can say why it must go there.
Pair the regions
Two regions squeezed into the same two columns use up both columns. No other cat can sit there.

FAQ
A logic puzzle where you place cats on a coloured grid: one per row, one per column, one per colour, and no two touching. It is sometimes called cat Sudoku, though there are no numbers.
No. Every board here has exactly one solution that can be reached step by step.
No. Two cats may never share an edge or a corner.
Only when cats clash. Two cats that touch, or that share a row, a column or a colour, turn red straight away. A cat in the wrong spot that breaks no rule yet is not marked, and there are no hints, so the board lighting up is your proof that every cat is right.
It starts when the board appears and stops when the last cat is placed correctly. It pauses while the tab is in the background.
